<p> DIED. Thomas Curtis, 81, U.S. Representative and federal
official; in Allegan, Michigan. After nine terms as a Republican
Congressman from Missouri, Curtis was named chairman of the
Corporation for Public Broadcasting; he resigned in 1973 after
accusing Nixon officials of manipulating his agency for
political ends. Later appointed head of the Federal Elections
Commission, Curtis became an early advocate of limits on
congressional campaign financing.
